We went to Azul for our anniversary vacation, we never had a honeymoon. This was well worth the 11 year wait! I don’t have any negative thing to say about this paradise. Every worker is wonderful and work to make sure you have the perfect stay. All the waitress are very attentive and your water glass is always full. This is a secluded place we had pretty much every meal at the hotel. I had lobster on two different nights and it was delicious! My husband had the Barracuda special on one evening and he loved it! Every meal was excellent now that I am thinking about it. The beach is magnificent we walked down the beach every morning. The water is so wonderful and the fish you can see under your bungalows alone is incredible! Huge Angle fish were swimming around and we seen a sea cucumber. Don’t let the wonderful snorkeling opportunity around the resort stop you from going on an excursion because you would be missing out. I have to take a moment to thank Sebastian he is a wonderful guide we went snorkeling and surfing with him. We asked for his recommendations for what we should do one day and we went to the bat cave! WOW that was a crazy adventure into the jungle!!! He hit it out of the park every time!! I can’t say enough about this tropical paradise, it is simply amazing!
This is truly paradise. There isn’t one bad thing you could say about Azul. The rooms were like a dream come true. Everything we ever wanted. The owners are an amazing couple that have a vision of what they want.
“Everyone with a dream of staying over the water – this is it!”
Falling asleep over the ocean to the sound of waves on the beach – it is the stuff of dreams and you won’t be disappointed here. While most of the time we stay in less luxurious accommodations – we wanted to live our dream of staying in an over the water bungalow. We looked at going to Fiji or Bora Bora – but the flights are so much longer and the rooms so much more expensive! My only concern was that the water was not as “blue” as those places and that the snorkeling would not be as good – but I was so wrong on both counts. Every morning, we watched the sun rise from our hammock and then went swimming in the really warm water. The staff took us out snorkeling and we saw the most amazing coral I have ever seen in my life. You are far away from civilization – so the restaurant is your only option – but you won’t be disappointed there either. I really can’t say enough about this place except that we will keep coming back every other year!
My family and i stayed here with friends, never had one complaint! Management and employees are on there A game! Food was outstanding. Cant say enough on how much of a great experience we had. We will be back everytime we visit Panama!
“July 2016 Seven Day Stay”
The staff was unbelievably generous with their time and they went out of their way to make our trip an experience that we would not forget. We were there for 4th of July, a big American holiday for those reading that may not know. The staff obtained fireworks for us to do a serious fireworks show, made us a traditional American BBQ dinner, special red/white/blue cocktails, and hung out with us (drink, eat, and be merry). Daniel, the surf and fishing guide at the resort was world class. If you fish or surf, you will be very happy with his expertise and willingness to go out of his way to put you on the fish and surf. We were leaving each morning to the best surf spot of the day prior to sunrise. Coffee and a light breakfast was always available for us, even though the kitchen did not technically open for a couple of more hours. Beers and water were on the boat waiting for us each day. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. A favorite part of my day was enjoying the sunset on the deck before getting ready for dinner. The dinner was a standard selection of steak, pasta, fresh fish, chicken, and other items, as well as a special that was thoughtfully considered by the kitchen manager and head chef. I could see how somebody might think that some of the local staff are distant or cold. The truth is, they are very nice and will go out of their way to help. They are just shy at first (truly), and once you put a little effort into talking to them, they will bend over backwards for you. The staff always found ways to entertain us. For example, we wanted to fish from the dock, and the next thing we knew, we were handed local fishing pools (stick, string, and hook) and bait and were fishing from the dock. It was awesome. If you are looking for a unique and memorable vacation experience, I highly recommend this place.
“Don’t Miss Out on Paradise”
I’ve been using TripAdvisor for over a decade and travel a couple of times a year, and this is the first resort that’s impressed me so much that I’m actually writing a review.
The resort itself is really cool….overwater bungalows, a well appointed restaurant and bar, tons of fun activities; but the thing that made this trip so memorable was the staff. Daniel and Jonan are far and away the best resort managers I’ve encountered. A travel mate summed it up at the end of the trip when he said: “I feel like whatever we wanted to do, they would make it happen.” From guided surf and fishing trips to waiting on the guests hand and foot these guys know how to deliver a fantastic time. They even picked up fireworks to celebrate 4th of July on our request, and delivered a firework show that was on par with any professional show I’ve seen. Seriously, the grand finale was 59 seconds long. On top of that, Jonan and his restaurant staff made an over-the-top 4th of July buffet style dinner so amazing that the filet mignon was about the 8th best thing served (and filet is my fav). Another example: when some people in my crew went on a deep sea fishing trip (their fishing boat is awesome by the way) and were skunked, later on in the day Daniel and Cruise brought out fishing gear to the deck where our bungalows were and proceeded to help our crew catch rays, some smaller fish, and a shark.
I could go on about the level of service, but I’ll just leave it at “it doesn’t get better than this”.
Some fun things to do:
Surf (guided tours)
Fish (Daniel has more fishing experience then anyone I’ve ever met)
Snorkel (decent coral and lots of starfish)
Boat to the Bastimiento Islands
Kayak or SUP from the resort
“The name says it all- paradise!”
Lovely staff, beautiful setting and great way to get away from it all! We particularly enjoyed snorkeling seeing corals and fish in a kaleidoscope of color. The paddle boarding and exploring in kayaks was fun too. (The water is an amazing temp!)
The bungalows are over water and give you the sensation of being on a boat and allow you to enjoy the climate and pristine view while avoiding getting too much sun (I’m fair).
The Azul Paradise food was tasty and varied. We were surprised to learn there isn’t a fishing industry given its an island and locals have boats. Hopefully in the future there is more fresh, locally caught fish.
We give Azul Paradise, it’s terrific owners and their resort family 5 thumbs up!! We highly recommend!
“A place to truly get away from it all!”
My husband and i spent a week here celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary. We arrived in Bocas Towne and we were picked up by golf cart to be whisked to the dock where the boat awaited us. After a 30 minute boat ride, we arrived at the beautiful resort location. We stayed in the Deluxe Bungalow that sits out at the end of the dock. It had amazing views from two sides and was very comfortable. The staff were amazing. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The chef was amazing. I know some people have complained about the quality of the food or the lack of some items from the menu. For me, the quality was superior. I too was unable to get a couple of the items from the menu when i asked – they were out of certain things at different times – but when you stop to think how far removed you are from the market, and that the market that they do have access to after a 30 minute boat ride has limited supplies as well, it is understandable. They were very accommodating and made sure that we had other alternatives when things were unavailable. If you are looking for a place that is quiet and gets you away from it all, this is the place. If you want a place that is super busy and has a million things to do, stay somewhere else. They have kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards, snorkel gear, fishing opportunities, guided and unguided tours, etc. There are a lot of things to do, but it is also a very quiet place. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to be out and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life!
